ABOUT
Emery Hammer is an award-winning dancer, actress, singer, recording artist, and choreographer currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She made her professional debut as a swing in Disney's Mary Poppins at Red Mountain Theatre, covering nine female ensemble tracks. She choreographed, dance captained, and performed in an original musical comedy entitled And You Are It, created and directed by Maddie Athearn. She sang on the original cast recording, which will be released on all streaming platforms on March 26, 2026. Most recently at UAB, in the world premiere of Don't Ask, a military-inspired play following the life of Maureen "Mo" Keenan, written and directed by Hayley Procacci, she understudied Mo as well as Jess, Mo's romantic opposite. Next, you can find her in Bye Bye Birdie at the Virginia Samford Theatre performing in June 2026.

In addition to regional and collegiate theatre, Emery made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2023 in the Octavo Festival Chorus series as a soprano selected and directed by Dr. Cameron Weatherford. Her vocal training includes Estill Voice Training (EVT) levels 1 and 2 under the direction of Valerie Acetta, and she is currently pursuing EVT certification. At UAB, she continues her voice study under the mentorship of Dr. Margaret Jackson, PhD. She was recognized by the Tennessee Music Education Association as an All-State Musician as a vocalist for two years consecutively. She was also ranked by the Tennessee Theatre Educators Association as one of the top undergraduate performers in East Tennessee in both Musical Theatre and Acting categories.

Additional training includes a lifetime of formal training and proficiency in tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, pom, and hip-hop dance in which she trained at Knox Dance Worx directed by Shelley Martin and Revolution Dance directed by Julie Barton in Knoxville, TN. She was a company member at both studios (not overlapping), competing nationally and regionally both as a soloist and as a member of their elite companies. As a soloist, she was awarded first place regionally in her age division and has won numerous national championships in group divisions.
